LIGHTHOUSE HERITAGE WALK
WALK TO THE HISTORIC LIGHTHOUSE OF ISLA GRANDE
Rising above the tropical landscape of Isla Grande, the island’s historic lighthouse offers a connection to a very different chapter of Panama’s Caribbean history. Dating to 1893, during the era of the French Canal effort, the structure reflects the industrial design and ironwork associated with the late 19th century.
From Ordovician, a walking trail leads through the island’s vegetation toward this historic landmark, combining nature and heritage in one unhurried experience.

A LANDMARK FROM ANOTHER ERA
Long before Isla Grande became known for beaches, reefs and island escapes, its lighthouse stood watch over this stretch of the Caribbean.
Built in 1893, the structure carries the visual language of an era when French engineering was leaving its mark on Panama. Its metal framework and elevated position make it more than a navigation landmark — it is also a surviving piece of the island’s history.
The walk adds another dimension to the experience. Tropical vegetation surrounds the route, allowing the transition from forest to heritage landmark to unfold gradually. For guests staying at Ordovician, it is a simple way to experience how closely nature and history coexist on Isla Grande.
